Opportunities for Students of Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapy

Clinical Affiliations: A clinical affiliation at the Center for Pediatric Therapies provides students with the opportunity to gain hand-on, on-site experience through clinical rotations or internships. The length of the clinical affiliation is agreed upon between the student’s education program and the Center for Pediatric Therapies. Eligible students must be enrolled in a higher education program for physical, occupational, or speech therapy.  Also, the student’s education program must have a current, formal clinical affiliation agreement. Student Observations: A student observation at the Center for Pediatric Therapies provides students with the opportunity to observe physical, occupational, and/or speech therapists in action.  Typically, observations are short-term (less than 2 weeks) and do not include hands-on experience. Eligible students  must be 1) at least 16 years of age, 2) enrolled in high school or college, and 3) interested in a career in physical, occupational, and/or speech therapy. To get started, download a Student Observation Request Form. You will also need to complete a Department of Social Services Form.

Volunteering: Volunteering at the Center for Pediatric Therapies is a great way to learn about and get experience in physical, occupational, and/or speech therapy. Volunteers are requested to commit to a minimum of a 4-hour session per week for a minimum of 3 months. All volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. To get started, download a Volunteer Application Form. You will also need to complete a Department of Social Services Form.

Opportunities for Education Students

Student Observations: A student observation at the Building Blocks Center for Children with Autism provides students with the opportunity to observe teachers and behavioral aides who work with children with autism. Typically, observations are short-term (less than 2 weeks) and do not include hands-on experience. Eligible students  must be 1) at least 16 years of age, 2) enrolled in high school or college, and 3) interested in a career working with children with autism or in a related special education setting. To get started, download a Student Observation Request Form. You will also need to complete a Department of Social Services Form.
